V2X Applications for Proactive Collision Prevention
Derq SENSE: V2X Applications for Cooperative Perception and Future-Ready Intelligent Transportation Systems
As a pioneer in cooperative perception, Derq SENSE: V2X Applications bridges the gap between infrastructure sensors, connected vehicles, and road users to improve roadway safety. By continuously analyzing road user trajectories, the platform fuses sensor and video data to generate standard-compliant V2X messages and build a high-precision, real-time digital twin of complex roadway environments.
Derq V2X broadcasts real-time alerts and messages for both roadway events and road user movements, including BSMs, PSMs, TIMs, and SDSMs. Beyond overcoming line-of-sight visual barriers, the cooperative perception layer expands the situational awareness of connected autonomous vehicles (CAVs), connected fleets, and traffic management systems alike to protect vulnerable road users, prevent collisions, and lay the foundation for future-proof cooperative intelligent transportation systems.
Cooperative
Perception
Patented AI fuses sensor and camera inputs to deliver total situational awareness and occlusion handling.
Standard-Compliant
V2X Messages
SAE J2735 and J3224 messages (BSM, PSM, SDSM, TIM, ICA, and RSA) for RSU broadcast.
Interoperable, Infrastructure Agnostic
Easily integrates with C-V2X RSUs, 5G networks, and existing camera hardware.
Real-Time
Digital Twin
Real-time virtual representation of all road users, including connected vehicles.
Event Sharing Services
Broadcasting of real-time detected roadway events through V2X communications enhances situational awareness for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs). This is primarily accomplished through SAE J2735 Basic Safety Messages (BSMs) containing event details, and SAE J2735 Traveler Information Messages (TIMs). These messages can be transmitted via Roadside Units (RSUs) or through event streaming and navigation platforms.

Sensor Sharing Services
Broadcasting of real-time, granular road user movement data for collision avoidance and enhanced situational awareness for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs) is facilitated
by SAE J2735 and J3224 standard-compliant messages. These messages are generated by processing and fusing infrastructure sensor inputs and then transmitted via formats such as Basic Safety Messages (BSMs), Intersection Collision Avoidance (ICA) messages, Personal Safety Messages (PSMs), and Sensor Data Sharing Messages (SDSMs).
Vehicle Status and Movement Messages

Connected Vehicle Alerts
Connected vehicle (CV) alerts from Derq V2X help protect vehicles and vulnerable road users from risk.
Dilemma Zone Protection
Using a combination of BSM and SPaT messages, Derq V2X detects the presence of a vehicle within the dilemma zone and triggers an action such as extending the green or all red.
Red Light Runner Detection
Using a combination of the BSM and SPaT messages, Derq V2X identifies potential red light runners and trigger an action such as an all red.
Walk Extension / Walk Max
Using the PSM message, Derq V2X will add time to the programmed walk, until the pedestrian has made it safely through the intersection.
Dynamic Walk (Ped Surge)
Using the PSM message, Derq V2X understands the size of pedestrian groups, and calls the appropriate walk time.
VRU Prioritization
Using the SRM message, Derq V2X enables the controllers priority service in an attempt to service the VRU upon arrival (e.g., bikes at trail crossings).
Pedestrian Protection
Using the PSM message in combination with other messages such as BSM and SPaT, Derq V2X identifies:
Potential conflicts via predicted trajectories of Vehicles (BSM) and Peds (PSM)
Potential problematic scenarios such as pedestrian presence in crosswalks while servicing conflicting phases
This will trigger actions such as a preempt to an all-red, illuminate blank-out signs, flash beacons, intensify smart street lighting, trigger audible messages, or broadcast CV messages (e.g., TIMs).
